Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Developmental Educator:
Developmental Educators are multi-disciplinary disability specialists with expertise in fostering the skills, independence and quality of life of individuals with developmental and/or acquired disabilities. As allied health professionals, Developmental Educators (also referred to as DE’s)
have a practical approach and work holistically across the life span to address issues which may affect the function, independence and social inclusion of individuals with disability, their families and carers (Developmental Educators Australia Inc, DEAI).
I have a full membership with the Developmental Educators Australia Incorporated, which means I have to keep my professional development up to date and includes a Code of Ethics and Practice.
What funding can I use:
If you have a NDIS plan, you can use the funding that you have been allocated in your Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living Budget. According to the NDIS price guide, this support category includes assessment supports, training supports, strategy development supports, and therapeutic supports to assist the development of, or to increase, a participant’s skills and their capacity for independence and community participation.

I also service the Yorke Peninsula (Yorke Peninsula, Copper Coast and Barunga West Council areas) fortnightly or more as needed depending on demand.

I charge up to 30 minutes of travel @ $100.00/hr, per visit, this is clearly agreed upon at the beginning of any service
I charge $270.00 - $290 per hour for my services in Remote/Very Remote South Australia, according to your area. If you are unsure of your area, please contact me for clarification.
Remote travel varies and will be discussed prior to any travel.
Are you NDIS registered:
I am currently not NDIS registered, but can work with clients who have their plans either plan managed or self managed.
I am unable to be used for Positive Behaviour Support Plans as I am not registered.
What sort of things can you help me with:
I can help you with a variety of things including development of functional living skills, support with life transitions (such as skills for moving out of home, or from school to work), increasing independence skills (such as transport training), support with behaviour concerns and I can also complete Functional Capacity Assessments using various standardised assessment tools.
I can also help you with planning for the upcoming year with your therapists, facilitate multidisciplinary meetings if your needs are complex and we need everyone to be on the same page or assist you with your plan reviews with the NDIS.
How long do you work with me:
This will depend on what you are wanting support with and what we agree on after we have met. As a general rule, my support would be short to medium term as we would be working together to increase your skills to be able to do things without me!
